Disaster Management

Disaster is a sudden accident or a natural catastrophe that causes great damage or loss of life.

Floods are the most frequent, followed by earthquakes and then storms. These events call for a massive coordinated reaction within a very short notice. This is because of their sudden occurrence and destructive nature.

Disaster management programs held by organization plays vital role in saving lives and maintaining environmentally sustainable rural livelihoods and conserving natural resources and biodiversity.

MAKAL deals with all humanitarian aspects of emergencies (preparedness, response, and recovery). Our aim is to reduce the harmful effects of all hazards, including disasters.

Our project areas include: Community Disaster Risk Reduction, Emergency Planning/Preparedness, Hazard Mapping and Landslide/Earthquake/Flooding Mitigation.

Our pronged approaches to rebuild lives of disaster affected communities in line with national humanitarian standards-

  • MAKAL alleviates the suffering of the people affected by disasters by providing food, household articles and psychosocial care and also considers disaster preparedness and response as a critical aspect of its organizational mandate.
  • We also maintain Emergency Response Teams at National and State levels, to be able to make timely decisions while deploying trained team members.
  • we continuously distribute emergency aid and relief to residents affected by the disaster.
  • Our current agenda regarding these uncertainties is to promote grass-root level Disaster Preparedness Education and Community Engagement Activities in order to provide those most vulnerable to Disasters with appropriate resilient behavior’s.
  • The aim of our program is to ensure the communities we work with, are aware and appropriately educated on the potential risks (natural and human) that may impact their lives; in order that they can be pre-prepared and respond appropriately.
  • Our organization goals towards safety, accessibility, sustainability and relevance of people in the context of disasters
  • We work with compassion in the most uncommon place on earth. So that we can prevent illness, educate and train, build or rebuild, and give people hope.

Thus, our organization is dedicated to help people worldwide where the need is greatest, delivering emergency medical aid to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from health care.
