OUR HISTORY

In 2005, Mrs. Sarita Kumari Das has gone on a project tsunami relief in Pondicherry with her husband there she saw lives who were screwed and in poor condition, after serving 3 years in Pondicherry she returned to her hometown with some vision for his peoples.

This was the turning point for Mrs. Sarita Kumari Das. She began building an organisation dedicated to helping the world’s lives, and in 2007 MAKAL was born. The first programme was held on women empowerment in the same year to educate and advocate their women rights

Over the next several years we expanded our work in different regions in Bihar.

In the 2009s, we attempted to addresses the causes of poverty by focusing on community needs such as water, sanitation, education, health, leadership training and income generation.

In 2013 a new program was added medical heath camp, distribution of food grains. And gone through new projects on plantation of trees and environment protection programs.

In the 2017s, we embraced a broader community development model and established an emergency relief division. When there was a flood in Bihar.

Through the years thereafter, MAKAL has moved programs to relief and development, from resourcing to capacity building and from motivating Evangelicals to networking with them.

The story of change is seen at the community level and at organizational level within MAKAL.
